1 million pounds of rejected takeoff

Want to see some red-hot brakes?
On one of the final steps toward certification of the 747-8 Freighter, Boeing conducted an "ultimate rejected takeoff."
Loaded to max takeoff weight, operating with worn brakes, no reverse thrust, and rolling at 200mph (320kph) the aircraft was subjected to an emergency stop.

Always cool to watch during test. Hopefully never have to be used in real life!

As I watched the video I was thinking, yeah, yeah, big deal, the brakes work as designed... But looking at the brakes glowing fire-red after the stop and thinking about the gazillions of tonnes of fuel right above them I suddenly felt very happy to be watching a video rather than sitting in that plane.
