Thanksgiving weekend and Cyber Monday reportedly set records for holiday shopping, with sales by dollar value up 17% and 33%, respectively. With inventories already lean, will retailers start to scream for last-minute shipments from factories in Asia and elsewhere? Shipments which can only move by air?
In other words, will we see a mini peak season in response to much higher-than-expected demand over that one four-day period?
It has now been a full week since then, so if there is going to be a last-minute surge we should be seeing it by now.
Have any of you seen a pick up in air freight demand?
